OCMULGEE
NATIONAL MONUMENT
Omulgee National Monument preserves the remains of an unusual concentration of Indian villages. All the evidences founded here helped establish the time divisions of Southeast prehistory. Ocmulgee consisted of three large and four smaller mounds. Ocmulgee represents a zone where many important prehistoric and historic cultures overlap.
The monument lies east of the city of Macon, Georgia. The entrance is from U.S. Highway 80, wich leads from Macon to Savannah. Free guide service is available to all visitors.
