Subsistence and Technology
Agriculture
Agriculture was the main activity in the Mississippian villages. It allowed the people to set in a permanent place for living, and it was a community activity. Corn, squash and beans were the principal products from agriculture. Other products like wild nuts, fruit, and roots were collected from wild vegetation.
Hunting and fishing
Hunting and fishing provided meat for the villagers. The mean species hunted were deer, bisons, and turkeys. The standard weapons were the bow and arrow; however, knives and axes were also used with this purpose.
