BAMBUCO

COLOMBIAN MUSIC.

HISTORY.

The precolonial cultures that habitated what today is known as Colombia, achieved their economical and cultural development in two vast regions: The Andean Region, and the Amazonic Region.  With the pass of time, and after continuous migrations and unifications, three more groups were formed: Pacific, eastern valley regions.
Each one of the regions developed different kinds of cultural topics according to the migrations group that came to that region and also according to the context  where they were living, Colombia has a great variety of natural regions.
Music in Colombia has many different genders depending on the region where they are performed, for example:
In the Atlantic coast the most popular rythm is La Cumbia, El Porro and El Vallenato; in the Pacific coast , La Jota and El Currulao; in the Amazonic region the popular music is Indigena`s music; in the region of eastern valley the most popular rythm is El Joropo. But now, we have the pleasure to introduce you....

ANDEAN MUSIC:
It is good to say there were a mix between the cultural elements of the spaniards and the cultural heritage of the precolonial people. Both, the spaniards and the precolonials had got their own language, music, dances, instrument, religion, art and moral pinciples.
Those elements became with the pass of the years in one element, one standard, for the people of these days, the colombians.

Religious parties were organized as well. They helped to mix both spanish and the indigenious culture. As a result of these mix, various rythms styles were created from them. The most important rythm in this area is EL BAMBUCO.

El BAMBUCO:

Several dances such as the fandango , la tirana, el bolero y la seguidilla de la provincia de Andalucia, were popular among the spaniards residents in the colombian territory.

These dances made part  of new musical styles . These styles changed, diversified, and the new satndar is considered to be called BAMBUCO. El Bambuco was born.

Ones of the most important Bambucos we heard since we were children are:

Brisas del Pamplonita.
Campesina Santandereana.
Yo tambien tuve 20 años.
