Who's BUM?

My past
In my
memory, every moment of my childhood seems normal. My story began
on April 12, 1974 in Korea, the date that I was born. When I was
eight years old, I started my elementary school. At that time, I
became a school basketball player. Before my family moved to
Pusan, port town, my father was a chef with Korean Airlines. In
Pusan, he changed his job and opened his own korean restaurant
for ten years. It was the happiest time of my life. I smiled
every time when I recall that because I could eat as much as I
wanted to. In high school, I studied hard, however I still could
not get into the university that I was interested in. Therefore,
I changed my plan, I took one year in school of design. Interior
design was my major. Finally, one year after that I could apply
to a university, and I changed my major to study environmental
engineering. For a reason, I have thought, it was very important
for my prospective career. After I graduated from university, I
worked in a small company because it was very difficult to get a
good job in Korea at the time. To improve my English language, I
decided to come to the United States to study. I have been here
for seven months now.
My present
Nowadays, one of my
interests is to study in the Language Institute have at the
Georgia Institute of Technology. I have been studying here for 8
months. Students who study in the Language Institute come from
different countries such as Mexico, Columbia, Japan, Thailand,
and Mali. It is a good opportunity to learn various cultures. I
enjoy talking with them because they can teach me the customs and
belief in their own countries. It is very interesting. Moreover,
not only friends but also teachers make me feel impressed. There
are many good teachers in this program. I can quickly improve my
English. The teachers teach English in the class, and they show
their lifestyle and culture outside. For example, when I am
invited by some teachers to join parties in their house, I have a
great chance to try real American food and also learn about the
American lifestyle. In conclusion, studying in this Language
Institute has opened my mind and my world.
My future
In my future plan, I
would like to be a good engineer. I will attempt to help my
country, Korea, with its environmental problems. I plan to study
for masters degree after I learn to communicate in English
well. When I graduate from my masters program, I will go
back to Korea. Hopefully, I will find a job that can use my
knowledge, and help my country. Last, my biggest need is to help
my country develop.
