Intensive English Core Courses
Speaking and Listening: Students work on improving their listening comprehension and speaking skills as well as expanding their vocabulary. Listening practice is provided by recorded lectures and interviews on a variety of current topics, which also provide students with discussion opportunities. New vocabulary and expressions applicable to several situations are part of the listening exercises. Students are expected to give several presentations to practice their speaking skills.
Reading: Students will analyze reading sections for main ideas, inferences, details, and structure. Students will also be encouraged to read for pleasure and speed. Students will get extensive work with vocabulary developments. Much of the course will be devoted to helping students participate in class discussions.
Writing: Students will integrate the grammar they learn into the writing they produce. Throughout the semester, stduents will focus on differences between formal and informal language use, combine related ideas using a variety of sentence structures, and learn to edit their own writing. Students will write complete, coherent paragraphs and essays that reflect an American linear style using adequate support from multiple sources and reflecting different rehtorical and organizational programs. To this end, there is a strong emphasis in this course on the development of both paraphrasing and word-processing skills.
Grammar: These classes are intended for those students who would like to understand and use English grammar. The grammar covered in courses will include phrases, clauses, verb tenses, modals, parts of speech, and gerunds and infinitives. Students will have intensive practice using these structures in meaningful written and oral communication. This class will help students achieve better accuracy in their speaking and writing in English.

Optional elective courses include TOEFL Preparation, Clearer Pronunciation, Business Communication, Introduction to American Culture, GMAT/GRE Writing Preparation, Everyday Conversation, American Film, and Current Events Fluency Through Dramatic Activities.
